How to tell the diff. betw. Mill and lathe NCI's?

Hey all - This is probably a REALLY dumb question, but I've been looking at a lathe NCI file and Mill NCI file, and I need to figure out how to get the software we've written (that reads NCI files) to tell the difference. I didn't see anything in the records that indicates what 'type' of machine (Lathe, Mill, Wire, etc.) the NCI file is intended for. Is there any way?
