THREAD MILL

I can't get mt threadmill path to cut to the major dia 3/4-16. If I select entities and arc which is my major it will mill at 0,0 and won't go out to .750 and the box for major is shaded. If I select 0,0 for the point it still won't let me enter the major dia. If I select the arc .750 dia then you don't need to enter the dia? right what am I missing? (my tool is defined properly) can someone list step by step for me the sequence to select the point or geo.
