finish leftover toolpaths slow 2

well the last post didn't seem to work, so here it is again.

when generating finish leftover toolpaths it seems to take a ridiculosly long time to generate.

can i speed this generation time up by making my toolpath allocation larger (which by the way is set at 30000) or do i need more ram (which by the way is 256 rd ram)

I think that the leftover program has to calculate two separate toolpaths (with the stepover of the smaller cutter)and then subtract one from the other - takes more than twice as long.

Iwas using a PII Pro with 256 Ram and all finish calculations were miserably slow. Now that I have a PIII 1000 with 528 Ram, it is considerably faster but leftover finishing, esp 3d collapse mode, is still excruciatingly slow. For optimizing your calculation speed, it's not so much ram as processing power. Get the most powerful processesor you can afford. Toolpath allocations don't help. Greater number of surfaces add to the time factor. Select only necessary surfaces for leftover cuts.
