undercut surface

Good Morning

When I use a slot mill on a simple ruled surface the cutter follows the undercut surface on one pass ,but violates the undercut area on the next.I made the cuts and finished the part the Hardway(save as geometry type of stuff).

I want the cutter to stay on the surface .

You need to show them a picture or some thing.

Because when you go one was it works fine but the way you want to do the cut being up & down, is were it wants to violate the surface.

Can you post the file so i may have a little more time at it?

This is one of my 3 ax parts,I cut it on a 40 tapper haas. The part is already completed and everyone is happy with it,but I had to make the program the Hardway and I would like to avoid this in the future. Operation one is on the concave side,and operation two has the most detail then it goes right to polish. The problem I had was simply removeing the part from the stock with a kellaing dovetail cutter. I used an up and down motoin so the part was supported while cutting.

But in simple flowline cuts it violated the surf with a verticle cut.What parameters should have been used?

Ok

I stumbled onto one parameter that works.

under gap settings

reset

smooth

don't check----check motion for gouge

don't check----check retract motoin for gouge
