leftover toolpath

Hi folks,

I am not able to get a good toolpath with the

leftover strategy. Instead of a clean path, i

get a lot of spikes, which is not desirable.

I have uploaded a sample file - left.mc8 for

your reference.

Please suggest me as to what settings should be

implemented.

I have not looked at your file, but I usually get better results using very tight tolerances. Calculation times will be increased considerably.

That's what i was looking for !! But, can it be

repeated for the 3d scallop strategy ?

I use the scallop allot, i would say yes.

It works well in allot of cases and that shape i would use it on.

what is your system tolerance configuration setting set to.

try reducing system tolerance till toolpath is ok.

Sorry BB but that was not what fixed it.

But i did drop them to make for a better path.

Down load the same file. But the new file name is leftcadcam.mc8

I have successfully regenerated your file left.mc8 (no spikes) renamed and uploaded it's called leftbb.mc8 .I have also uploaded my config file mill8mbb.cfg . I'm using version 8.11 system tolerance 0.001 . Can anyone explain the effect system tolerance has on cutter path results. While system tolerance may not be the only difference between Kurt's and my cutterpath I get different output when I change my system tolerance.
