Solid problem

On the farside I took the contours you had laid out, offset lines to make sure I had clean cuts, and then after doing the 2 sides seperately, I used solid fillet on the 2 edges of each side.

You could have done it like this too

I used extrude cut.

 

You have to make sure that whatever you are going to cut away, is not going to leave a piece of the part away from the main body, you'll get the disjointed error if you do that. If you make sure your cutting offsets are far enough away all of the material you want to remove will be removed.
