Solid problem

I have a file in MCX directory (trial solid) I need some help with. I need the triangle shape cut across the body, perpindicular to the 1.0 radius.

 

If you ARE helpful, can you tell me how you did this?

No. I would like the 35 deg angles straight across the body dia. You mean the bottom of the triangle will cut the dia in half? Thats ok. Im going to cut the top form complete from an aluminum piece.

The solid wont show up on my version. I have an eariler version at home.

check your mail, lucky for you I still have an older version installed

 

On the farside I took the contours you had laid out, offset lines to make sure I had clean cuts, and then after doing the 2 sides seperately, I used solid fillet on the 2 edges of each side.

OK, I really need some training here. This is hard to pick up with no class.

Why did you offset the lines and what menu diod you use to cut thru the dia?

You could have done it like this too

 

 

I used extrude cut.

 

You have to make sure that whatever you are going to cut away, is not going to leave a piece of the part away from the main body, you'll get the disjointed error if you do that. If you make sure your cutting offsets are far enough away all of the material you want to remove will be removed.

OK. I got that. Now how do you toolpath it without going all the way down the dia, just do the top form?

How are you planing to machine it and what kind of toolpath/toolpaths are you planning on using.

I got the part aboout using containment to limit the toolpath.Tool steel. What would you use to rough and finish and what toolpaths? I only ask cause you have done this so much longer than me.

Honestly, I'd lay it down and do the angled profile complete. Then I'd stand it up clean it out and probably try a finish scallop to complete it
