I believe "Save some" only saves geometry which is why assume it opens "as a design" file. That being said in the end it's just a Mastercam file You can add which ever Machine definitions are needed.
The post can output variables for ex...
pbld, n$, 035, "500", 061, *mr1$, scomm_str, "STOCK DIA", scomm_end, e$
pbld, n$, 035, "501", 061, *mr2$, scomm_str, "LENGTH", scomm_end, e$
pbld, n$, 035, "502", 061, *mr3$, scomm_str, "CLEARANCE", scomm_end, e$
pbld, n$, "G10P0Z-", 091, 035, "501", 043, 035, "502", 093, e$
but I don't think you'll be able to enter the variable in MasterCam like that.
There are tutorial files available from Mastercam.com there is also a full DVD iso image download (I'm not sure if the DVD includes the sample files or not). I believe to download anything you will have to link your MC SIM # to a user account (or get the account login info from your IT).
I know I've seen that issue before & I'm not 100% sure what I had to change to get it working properly (maybe "From tool" checked in the CD for lathe tools) but It does work now.
I believe the issue arises from not retracting from the face on the previous op. If I change the retract or use a retract Z ref on the Fin Face path, no error.
The definition for tubes (with an ID) is available in Lathe, in mill you would need to model a solid or maybe set up cylinder and ghost an op to drill the ID.
You must enable classic backplot to have backplot as it was in previous versions.
Start >> All Programs >> Mastercam X8 >> Utilities >> Advanced Configuration
There is a switch to turn on classic backplot.
