Pro/E vs. Wildfire vs. Solidworks

Hello everyone

This question may have been posed before but I didn't see anything similar in the last 3 months.

To all users out there

I am thinking about getting a CAD system because I feel that the CAD portion of MCAM is somewhwat limited. I have used Pro/E since ver.18 but am wondering what the new favorite CAD system might be that communicates efficiently with Mastercam.

It all depends on what you are doing, the big factor between the 2 is price. Pro-E is much more powerful with many options. Solidworks in my opinion would be a better choice for what most shops need. The learning curve with pro-e is longer compared to sw. SW would be my choice

We have ProE and Solidworks and have found Solidworks to be the staple of choice.

OK here it goes. Solidworks is generally easier to use and functions for many many design issues. They are much weaker when it comes to free form surfacing and engineering functions. We run Pro/E wildfire 2.0 and when solidworks came into demo they could not compete in our applications from design to engineering to manufacturing through put. If it were for internal stuff and non engineering I would stay with Solidworks.
