config defaults won't stay

Every time I open my communications port I dont have my default settings. I have to go to sys config and go out of english to metric and back to english to get it to recognize my default settings. Is this common? Anyone know how I fix?

Even though I haven't used mcam communications for years now, when I did I had to set the defaults in my post. The config file calls the post and the post sets communications. The logic behind this is that you can have many machines with a post for each machine, and when you change the post it sets communication parameters for the specific machine. You can set it not to read the post by un checking the "read pst parameters" box in the communications tab in screen config, if you only have one type of machine and experiment with different posts. Ethernet is the hot ticket if your controller supports it, you can talk with a zillion machines via one wire and it's MUCH faster.

I agree w/jamman,we just upgraded 2 of our machines to use ethrnet,i down load some nc files

that can be 30mg,rs232 it took hrs,ethernet is minutes or even seconds with a smaller file.As for

the config.,im not really sure,we use a system

called extreme dnc with great results.

When stting up in the config make sure that Read Post is not checked like this

All so make sure you save it in the right config file like in the picture.

This the right one for me.
