3D Questions?

Hello,

I am new with 3D programing, I have a few questions to ask you.

- How do you analyze a small Radius on a surface?

- How do you project a surface or extend out a surface?

- I have a surface and i like to rotate it up

side down. How do i rotate it?

- Since there are many cutting parameters on cutting a surface, like paralle, contour, pocket, flowline,etc.. which cutting parameter do you often use and why?

Thank you all and have a great weekend.

I'll take a shot at a couple.

Q - How do you analyze a small Radius on a surface?

A - Zoom so you can see the surface yo intend to look at, then Analyze, Dynamic, and Pick the surface and morve the mouse around on it and you'll see coordinate info, radius, etc...

Q - How do you project a surface or extend out a surface?

A - Modify, Extend, Surface

Q - Since there are many cutting parameters on cutting a surface, like paralle, contour, pocket, flowline,etc.. which cutting parameter do you often use and why?

A - I use scallop, flowline, and Rough Pocket the most. They give me the kind of control necessary to successfully cut the surface/solid topologies I deal with often. SUrface topology plays the biggest role in the determining factor in what surface routine I use.

Hope that helps,

It must be an 'untrimmed surface' in order to extend it; sometimes you have to 'untrim' the surf, extend it and then re-trim it as necessary.

Just like any other geometry - Xform-rotate.

I really like and use 'parallel' a lot. I usually only make 1 or 2 parts at a time, and this toolpath is fast, simple and bulletproof.

'Radial' fits in this catagory, too. (It is interesting how different programmers get used to their own favorite toolpaths).

If your not used to rotating geo, your c-plane will

play a very important role in how your surfaces

are rotated.I think the other guys put it pretty

well about surfacing, many different options can

complete the job, find one that is comfortable to

you.As i have heard jay say before(theres many ways to skin a cat).

DH, you can trim a solid to say a surface I do this some times.

Actually I just did the other day for a drum stick mold.

As for Extending in some cases yes but just by going in to the history and changing a length of an extruded solid.
