Mask on Arc

I am trying to use the mask on arc which I have used a hundred times before...what is happening is that I click on MOA and try to click a point but nothing highlights..when I hit enter anyway it tells me that a point has not been selected. So I go to the normal point selection mode for single points (the arrow) and I see all the holes become highlighted as I roll over them!

 

 

Mask On Arc just doesn't seem to be working...am I missing something?

Ok...found the problem but don't know how to change it....my diameter is set to 1.0 with a tolerance of .0001....the probelm being is that my holes are .201 and the diameter is grayed out and unable to be changed???

I'm not particularly pink, but I'll try to help...

 

When you are asked to select the "arc to match", select the arc itself, i.e. around the circumference, not the centre point. Then you should see the diameter box update to match the arc you selected. Then you can window or otherwise select the other arcs you want to match up.

Click on mask on arc, then pick an arc you want to set the mask to, you don't type, you choose the arc.

 

Then you can pick ALL the arcs and only the ones of the mask size will get drilled, then you have to hit the Green Enter Ball, THEN the check mark out.

Nope..I was trying to select the actual arc..like I said..I have used it before but for some reason it won't let me pick the arc when I click on MOA.

Analyze the arc, is it a nurb?

no..there are no NURBS on my screen at all

When you pick an arc.....they usually are highlighted in yellow.... this happens when using single point selection but when using the mask on arc this time....nothing highlights

MOA is depressed and you cannot select an arc?

Have you tried restarting MC?

 

When I start seeing weird screen behavior, I restart and many times the issue alleviates.

 

I attribute these issue I have to my ATi video card.

OK, ummmm, have you got the Only (as in the All and Only buttons) mask set to "Maintain Only mask" and is it set to mask on something other than arcs?

No..the all button is selected. I did notice that the duplicate point filter is on....never notioced that before and wouldn't know if that is normal or not

what sucks is that this is a very simple part...just getting really frustrated with a simple function that I have used a hundred times not working all of a sudden.

It worked OK for me.

 

You might try changing the color of your solid to get a better look at

what is going on.

 

Plus you have edge curves on the top and bottom, so if you use window in the top view, you'll get 40 holes instead of just 20.

When you go to the drill toolpath and press MOA, does the prompt say "select arc to match"?.

 

Try analysing some of the arcs, are they all in the same View? (the view # is at the top of the Analyze window)

What is your Highlight colour set to? The wireframe ofthe model is white and if I switch to MOA and move my mouse over the arcs, nothing really happens as my highlight colour is white also. But if I still click on an arc, it's value will go into the greyed out diamater box.

I didn't draw this John...a student did and sent me the SolidWorks file...I have changed my colors and this is what happens....I click on MOA and it says to "select arc to match"

 

I then click on an arc. it highlights an arc but never shows me the arc center icon when I am about to highlight

 

then I click on an arc and it says "selct arcs, hit enter when finished"

 

So i click on arc again and this time it says "one point defined Point sorting off Duplicate point filter On"

 

so I try to window the geometry and nothing happens...not sure what to do....

 

I feel like i have never used this function before

I won't at this point, you have simply defined a size.

 

At this point don't click another arc, window them in, you should get all the ones of the size you chose. The click the green enter button, then the green check

I actually work with my models #94, I left my hightlight color the yellow default.

Here I waste everyones time because I have fast fingers and I hit enter instead of windowing first...DOHHHHH

 

I got it and I will change my solid color...thanks for all the help guys...some days are just better than others!
