Tapping Help Please

I have had great luck with Roll Form taps in Al,

as well as steel. The trick with form taps longevity is to chamfer before tapping. The way the form tap pushes the material out to make the thread makes it likely a burr at the top of a drilled hole will cause it to break. I'd suggest 450rpm 25ipm for this application. You may want to bump your coolant to around 8% if you see your tools are wearing to quickly.
