Our local area career center is having trouble. Does anyone know if the MPROT3MX3 post will work for the age 3? Will this post, or machine allow us to do surface machining? Anyone with experience using mastercam with the age3 control? Sorry for so many questions. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the MPROTOMX3.pst will work. I also believe the it will support full 3 axis contouring. However You must purchase a "DNC kit" from your dealer to support this on the machine. basically its a hardware lock that includes a SIM (hasp) and a bit of software. I think the price is around $1000.00 US

On the AGE 3, be sure to start all profiles and pockets with a line move. If you don't, you'll get some strange error like, "pocket is a point".

 

Not a post problem, but a restriction on the AGE3.
