.stl question please...

I verified a part on op1, saved that as an stl and then file merged it back into my file so I could show the part in my second op, however it isn't a solid its just lines.

I then read the help file and tried to xform stl it into my file and it shows up as a solid but when i hit the checkmark it askes to save it as binary or acsII, i said yes to binary and it goes and saves it but the stl disapears from the file? I tried acsII and clicked bounding box, the box stays but the part is gone? What am I doing wrong?

What is it you are trying to do that a leftover-toolpath won't do?

I think that's the nature of an stl file.

I was just going to show the part in the vise after op1 and print it out for the setup sheet. I really don't need it but i was trying to learn how to work with an .stl file. I wasn't sure if thats the only way they would come in as wireframe or not.

There is a chook available, I know it worked in V9, I don't know its current status but it was stl2surf I think it is still in the chooks folder on the FTP.

 

If you can run it through there and get something out of it as surfaces you could then show it.
