You might want to consider going a little higher on on the graphics card.

Arn't Xeon chips for servers? Wasn't MC havinf problems with the Xeon CPUs?

Go with the FX 3450 card. Much better CAD/CAM graphics than the FX 1500.

The new Core 2 Duo (not the same as Xeon) are supposed to be much faster. You would have to get a compatible Motherboard though.

I would think going with a duo would be cheaper then the xeon, and put the extra into a higher end video card

The new dual core Xeon is built on the core 2 duo and is an absolute monster! There is a Powermill benchmark going around that we tried here on our core 2 duo's and we only got about 80% of the result that a similar PC with the new dual core Xeon was getting. They definately aren't the same as the older Xeon's

I've heard only good things about the dual core xeon's, so I went with 2 of them. My comp builder recommended 2 drives with my 2 xeons. Is this so each cpu will run each drive independently? Will this work with MasterCAM or will I need to install MC on both drives? I think the Hasp reads off of the serial or usb port.

Will the graphics card only offer better display properties, or will it enhance performance.

What about the FX3500?

i agree with John Paris. its all in the Vid. baby! i got a pretty decked out Dell XPS system. also made sure i got Dell's best graphic card to in the system as well. have a blast!!!!

The new quad core CPU's just came out so you could run even more instances of X2 at one time.

 

Go with the Quadro 3450 or better video card and get 2 10,000RPM hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration and you'll have the fastest CAM PC ever. (so far)
