Well if its an AGP card you need to have an AGP slot.

 

it will be a brown slot usally at the top of the slots.

 

In most cases the PCI slots are the white slots and the black ones that are now old school would be ISA slots.

 

You don't happen to have a picture of this card that we can see do you?

Guess I should learn how to read. New motherboard time. Some AGP cards have a little tail that hangs to the back of the slot but doesn't go in it. Bullines could tell you why.
