new video card and monitor question

Just bought a 20 inch monitor off of ebay and it came with a illusionist oem 32mb gaffics card. The question is i don't have a slot that the card fits into its about 3/8 to long. What do i need besides more experiance inside my computer?

Sounds like it could be a PCI video card.

How old is it?

I dought it is a ISA card.

cadcam the manual says it requires a agp expansion slot based on your mirage cards bus format whatever that is btw computer is a dell with no separate graghics board on it any help sir would be greatly apprieciated.

Well if its an AGP card you need to have an AGP slot.

 

it will be a brown slot usally at the top of the slots.

 

In most cases the PCI slots are the white slots and the black ones that are now old school would be ISA slots.

 

You don't happen to have a picture of this card that we can see do you?

no pic but pretty sure i have only the pci slots ( no brown only white)so i guess i need a new card. now just need to no what will run the monitor.

The illusionist 32meg "fixed frequency" came in AGP and PCI. A PCI slot is longer than an AGP, I would try to slide it in the PCI slot and see if the connector lines up with the back of the case.

Guess I should learn how to read. New motherboard time. Some AGP cards have a little tail that hangs to the back of the slot but doesn't go in it. Bullines could tell you why.
