File Conversion Issues - Solidworks

I am having issues (because I never have any problems) trying to read a part file that was created in Mechanical Desktop (version unknown), translated to Solidworks 2000 from a .dwg file, and finally saved as a .sldprt file.

 

The .sldprt file looks fine in Solidworks but after reading it into Mastercam (FILE>CONVERTERS>Parasld>Read), I'm just getting a simple block with chamfered sides.

 

The read parameters are as follows:

(*) Trimmed Surface, (*) Edge Curves, (*) Override Filename, Scale = User Specific = 1, Untrimmable Surface Level = 255.

put the file on the FTP I will try with the newer version being 13.2 kernal.

I have to ask is the file suppose to be some thing diffrent then the retangle with chamfers.

 

I brought it in with no trouble but it is what i asked.

I'm not able to access the FTP site (I already read through that topic (FTP Problems) to no avail). I sent the zipped file to your e-mail address for you to look at.

I have put the FTP back to the way it was for now untill i work it out with the webby.

So you should be able to get there now.

 

But i have all ready looked at the file and answerd.

The part has numerous holes and resembles a 3/8 thick rectangle. There's more detail than that description but it is certainly more than a chamfered block.

 

If I get a screen shot I'll post it.

Can I get a copy of the SLDPRT file? Also, if you're running V8, we did not support SolidWorks parts containing multiple 'configurations'. In V9 we do. I can look at it here with both Mastercam versions and let you know what I see. I couldn't find it on the FTP site, so could you either post it there and let me know the name or simply e-mail it to me ([email protected])

I have had "success" at opening corrupt UG files

in solidworks then saving it and passing them along to the next guy who thinks he is getting a fully defined tight solid .SLD...Solid works will take a bad model in and save it.
