Center of rectangle

Hi everybody,

Bounding box and creating rect have the option to get the center of rect. If the rect is already on the screen how we can get the centre with the minimum click. So far I always draw the diag and where two diagonal cut is the centre but I think MC must have some fast ways without drawing all the lines.

Any idea

If you know the size and distance from the origin , Xform >> translate move it the distance you need

If it's a rectangle you only need one diagnol line.

 

also in the bounding box feature you can turn everything off except center point.

+1 to beej. Just to clarify, if you are in 2d mode the point will be created at your z depth

minimum clicking:

 

create line between midpoints of two parallel sides. Use midpoint of new line as centerpoint

 

using boundig box is great for an unknown center point. +100 to CNC for adding the ability to chain entities to include and adding center point. It's saved me a lot of trouble countless times.

You can also Analyze-Area/Volume and analyze the 2D Area of the rectangle or any closed 2D shape. Once selected there is an option to create a point at the center of gravity, which is the geometric center of the analyzed 2D geometry. See pic below. HTH
