High speed toolpaths-stock recognition

Im starting to teach myself how to use high speed toolpaths and so far im really liking how they process out. I am having a problem though with stock and actual part. Lets say you have 1/4 extra material around the part and one of the pockets in a part is say like an open pocket. How do you set your parameters so that it starts outside the stock instead of just the part surfaces? Do you create extra surfaces to fake it in or is there some setting in the parameters that im missing to make this work? Any help is appreciated.

Greg, the first step is going to be to create a model of your part with the extra stock on it. You can create a dummy toolpath leaving stock on the part that you need. Run the dummy toolpath through Verify and write out a STL file.

 

Once you have the StL file, you can select it by selecting "Cad File" under the drive surfaces button.
