OT/ small ID groove troubles

I am having trouble with tool life on a small groove, I am looking for advise.

 

The groove is .346 minor dia, .473 major dia, .08w, material 303ss. I have tried between 160-250sfm, .0003-.001 feed, and as small as .01 depth cuts roughing, and we only get up to 20 pieces per solid carbide tool.

Still breaking tools, any suggestions?

How wide is your tool? .08 wide or closer to .04 as in your image? And what is your shank material, diameter and extension?

What brand name of grooving tool are you using?

We do alot of small parts, and found that P.H horn tools do well.

Try 300-350 sfm, .0005 feed. I think they are breaking cause sfm is too low. +1 to ph horn, they make nice tools. the insert should be as wide as possible. My .02c anyway

Original post date 10-23. These parts have been finished for a couple of weeks. We ended up grinding our own tools.
