Solid Drill Toolpath problem

Hello All,

 

I am using Mastercam X2 with Robotmaster.(Robotmaster Fanuc Machine Type)

 

When creating a Solid Drill toolpath on this part:

 

(the part is a shell (open at the bottom)

 

Mastercam wants to drill the top surface holes from the bottom (inside the part). The only way I have found to fix this is to re-model the part closing the bottom.

 

Is there a way to limit the axis to force Solid Drill to drill from the top?

Not too familiar with solid drill, but you could extrude a solid plate over open end on a different level. Turn it off when not needed.

What you can do is right click on the individual holes,or group of holes in the "Solid Feature Detection" tab and select Reverse View.

And it will turn the bottom to the top view.

Nice part. I would think the software would make this a breeze.

OT, but does Solid-drill use holder verification?

Now my only problem is the huge slowdown when detecting and processing the 1048 holes in the solid
