X2 dongle for V7.2b

We are currently running Mastercam mill 7.2b on a Shoda. We still wanted to use this version for the Shoda and did not want to go through the updating it to Mastercam X2 Router.

 

Is it possible to use the X2 dongle to run Mastercam7.2b?

You could run V9... I don't know about V7...

V7 uses a 25 pin parallel port, i have installed the alladin drivers & the machine recognises the SIM, but i cannot get Mastercam to look at it;-(

the 25 pin parallel White Hasp 4 is supported with X2. The White Hasp 3 is NOT supported, and the Green SIM is NOT supported.

Thanks Bryan, We are running HASP 4.

 

But when i run V7.2b it comes up with HASP not found error, even though the SIM is in the USB port.

 

How can direct mastercam 7.2b to look at the USB rather than the parallel port where the old sim was attached??

V7.2 has no support for USB. It never did. Parallel port is the only option for 7.2.

 

This is why I suggested V9, because it will support the USB sim. When you say "X2 dongle", have you upgraded Mastercam to X2, but just want to run only one copy at a version 7.2?

We have just upgraded to X2 and are in the process of finetuning a post for a Biesse.

 

But we have an old computer set up with 7.2b mill which has got hundreds of .mc7 programs & a working post.

 

Was wondering if we could use the new USB sim we got when we upgraded to X2 to run the old 7.2b. This way we could still use the same programs by moving the SIM to the old computer without actually converting all programs to X2

Well I guess the question is, will Mastercam X2 run off of a Parallel HASP 4? I would call your reseller and ask. It might be possible...

I am sorry I can run 6.1 and higher of the usb key and have in the past.

What are you running for the OS I know this is the issue.

We can run V7 with our USB hasp- I believe

you can run any previous Mcam version with a newer version hasp - the older versions just

arent supported with documentation and downloads

I'm not 100% sure if it'll run or not but we just had a customer we had to prod off of V7 because we simply could not get it to run.

7.2b recognises the SIM. I just installed the drivers "Hinstall470.zip" from link

But since we updated only to Mastercam X2/SP2 Router, the old 7.2b mill tells me that the SIM is not enabled for mill.
