V9 Lathe Question

We just got version 9 installed and I'm looking at the lathe portion. In toolpath rough it allows you to use a solid to generate the toolpaths. I need to leave additional stock on some faces for future operations. Is there a way to modify the solid section or save it as geometry?

If anyone has any ideas please let me know

Thanks

KCollins,

With Lathe V9 the roughing operation does allow for solid geometry to be used. What Mastercam actually does is create a 2-D profile from the shape of the solid part, similar to a parting line on a surface. You use the profile to rough just like you would if you had created the profile itself. The stock is recognized from whatever you specify it to be from the Job Setup. It will also be recognized from previous operations so if you specify to leave material in "Z", any following operations will calculate for that leftover stock. There is also stock adjustment in the roughing operation. Look for it under the Lead In/out box. Have you looked at the new Parameters for stock, chuck, tail stock, and steady rest boundary definitions yet? That's way cool. cool.gifbiggrin.gifcool.gif
