  1. Thanks for the reply. Is this supposed to append to the first part program or does it go in as a separate program? This isn't something I'm familiar with and the only person here whos done it in the past used Mazatrol 15+ years ago to accomplish it.
  2. When all else fails ask google....when that fails ask the forum. We have a Mazak dual turn (twin spindle lathe) that has been converted over to run eia/iso. I'd like to set up the spindle transfer to auto load parts from one chuck to the other but I dont have a roadmap of the GCode required. Does anyone have any experience with a similar lathe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. We are looking for a second mastercam programmer for a prototype auto company. Work has increased steadily and we now have more than we can push through a single programmer. The company is located in Sterling Heights, Mi. Anyone interested can send a resume into [email protected] Experience with lathes, mills, and wire are recomended. I"m not sure if this is kosher on the forum but I figured i'd come straight to the source for the best.
  4. cheeves...check out thewoodwhisperer.com. Hes got a lot of great basic info that you'll find usefull. He just posted a new one on how to tune up a brand new table saw coincidently.
  5. the one on finewoodworking.com isn't too bad. Its a subscription service but they've got a lot of info on there For those little tricks and tips that just make your life a little easier i recommend the video podcast at thewoodwhisperer.com Hes also got a forum on there. If you have a few hours or a just a few minutes hes got a lot of great basic info on there
  6. We're running a mazak dual turn 20 that i had the g-code option installed on recently. Its a two spindle lathe that allows for part transfer between chucks. Does anyone have a similar machine and if so know what the G-code is to do a part transfer. The machine is capable using the mazatrol programming but no one here is really proficient programming it that way.
  7. what version are you using?
  8. i ordinarily would do that but i only need them for a single path and would have to spereate them also
  9. I have a large project with 4 - 5 thousand surfaces...its actually a transmission case. I would like to pocket out the inside using a large cutter. Is there a way to window pick only the visible faces...ie those not on the back side of the case while looking at the front... Its not an overwhelming problem but it uses a ton of extra unessesary processing time.
  10. i found some at bigkaiser.com thanks for everyones help
  11. Does any one know of any companies that produce apaters for through tool coolant, ie...not through the spindle but mounted to it. We'd like to retrofit an andapter on an older machine for a new small run production job, only i can't seem to find any companies that make one. thanks in advance for the help
  12. what kind of 3d work are you doing? if its not overly complex you could go with the cheaper card and not even notice a difference...but if you're using something with 1000's of surfaces you'll kick yourself later on...or
  13. the first thing i do in an issue like that is pull the hard drive cable. If it gives you a no operating system error you know it got past the bios and is the drive...if you dont get that then you know you have a hardware/ bios issue.
  14. alright thanks for the help. I'm going to check some memory meters and see if theres somethign that pops out
  15. i actually am using faces. And no high speed paths. Just simple surface rough pocket. The odd thing is it appears to slow the whole file down. Even opening the parameters pages seems to take forever. I've resorted to converting all my solids to surface models now.
  16. i'm running an xp pro station with 3ghz processor and 2 gig of ram. using the Nvidia Geforce 6800 card. The model rotates great on screen, its just toolpathing is slow. And running a comparison between programming with solids vs surfaces...the lag only occurs with solids.
  17. I definaetly prefer to model using solids as it seems to be a hundred times faster for me to do so but why are they so slow when toolpathing. I have a valve body that i machined using one solid model and one surface model. The solid slows the pc as if it had a boat anchor attached to it. The surfaces dont seem to cause this problem. why is that?
  18. Are you using late i assumer or mill? If you're using lathe theres a corner break option in the lathe finish pass. you can put a specific corner rad on everything without changing geom
  19. it was the X2 update. I had checked the max and min spindle speeds to no avail. Finally applied the update last thing before i went home last night and it posts fine now. Thanks for the help as always
  20. i guess i really should install those update disc's...i give it a try and see if it works
  21. Has anyone encountered an error where the spindle speed doesn't post? I'm posting for a fanuc control and i get a S0. for every tool in my program. I changed machines and it works on a different post. my post line is: pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgcode, *sgabsinc, pwcs, pfxout, pfyout, pfcout, [if nextdc$ <> 7, *speed, *spindle], pgear, strcantext, e$ any ideas why speed would be 0?
  22. my control wont accept an R (an old cincinatti that was born before me)
  23. yeah i tried the arc type. Finally got it figured out. It was actually a result of a program rather than an arc output. I was trying to output something in the YZ plane that wasn't a true arc..a basic circle countour verfied its me and not the post thats messed up
  24. well i think i've answered my own question yet again
  25. So i've decided to finally modify one of the generic fanuc posts to fit our machine as after 4+ updates from our original version 8 post i wanted to be able to use all the new features. I'm using the generic fanuck 4 axis as a base from X2. It seems i have just about everything correct but i can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to output IJK's instead of the R. the arcoutput statement is no longer in the post and i can't find anything in the control def. I see the variables IJK are in the format section but how do i get the arc output to use them?
