Has anyone had any issues communicating with their FADAL mill when using Mastercam v9.sp1 and XP as the O/S? I have to disconnect the cable following upload of a program or the controller gets confused. The computer is a Dell laptop using a std. serial port and a 1 gig processor.Any sugestions or comments? Thanks, dank

It could just be rf noise in the air, check your ground, it should be on the machine side only.

 

The fadal is live to the serial port all the time. Try it out by sending a program with DNC as the first line, when you are in command prompt at the fadal, the machine will immediately go into DNC mode and wait for cycle start.

 

You could try receiving a program on the fadal and see what characters come up. There was a virus once that would send out "One Small Step For Mankind" on every port of the computer.
