HST Smoothing

I see under the ARC filter there is now tolerances for smoothing. Is there any rule of thumb for using these? I don't use smoothing much (most of my geometry has radii). If I have smoothing un-checked in the cut parameters page, do the profile and offset tolerances under ARC filter have any effect?

With smoothing turned off, the profile tolerance (finish pass) and the offset tolerance (rough passes) have no effect on the toolpath.

Does anyone know the difference between the "smoothing" on the cut-parameters tab and the "smoothing" on the arc-filters tab?

Colin, Thanks for the response. I hope I understand the answer.

 

The smoothing on Cut-parameters effects both rough passes and passes which touch geometry (finish).

 

The smoothing on the filter page can control rough and finish passes seperately.

 

And if they are both enabled, MC will use the smaller value from whichever tab.
