x3 lathe

As you can see I have a simple part to make, but I cant seem to get my tool to cut any of the back id. I sure I missed something but cant find it.

 

Plunge:on

Lead in:135 deg

Lead out:-90 deg

Check you plunge settings

Yeah as I said, its on..

I just did the same part on X2 and it worked fine.

Paul what is the insert you are using, looks like a CMNG style which would act like that plunging.

I have tried several differant inserts now and all have the same result in x3, but when I go to x2 the same ones work fine

Hi Paul,

 

You might try editing the boring bar you're using. Click on the Tool Clearance button on the parameters tab. Then click on the Scan Tool Geometry button. One of the circles they use for clearance calculations may be out of whack. You can also click on the draw tool button while you're editing the tool, and it will show the three circles I'm talking about.
