Dynamic Probe

Trying to understand how dynamic probing might work within X2. I do allot of NPT in castings I know where the hole axis is but not where the top of the cast surface is. Right now I use 5 axis drill and let the tool come down to the cast surface measure it then make a depth adjustment. If I could probe with 5 axis drill would my tap depth then become a variable? Just trying to get an idea of how it is supposed to be done.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that you could use standard Renishaw macros with dynamic comp. I believe that you could only use them for 0 and 90°. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
