Work Offsets vs. subs

I've put a file on the ftp under mc9 directory called "rotopal.mc9"

I want some opinions on the best way to program these parts - using different offsets as shown or using subs, say with the mpfan post or mpsubrep post.

Notice the middle row has a different spacing and number of parts.

What about using the new WCS??

Kevin,

Use the multiple offset post from this site (MPSUBREP) and then go to the misc values page.

The post will need to be modified to count the g54.1 and g55.1 and increment p as you require.

I have loaded my revised file (Rotorevised.zip)and a sample of the gcode. Don't worry about the goofy graphics on the screen, as the operator is going to pick the work zero for each station.

Use MCEDIT to change sub to inc.

Main prog abs X0 Y0 call sub

Main abs X-12.8125 Y5.125 call sub.

Your operator can change main program X & Y

Just like they set G54 G55 .

Make shure of all of the Z moves.

Thanks Andrew,

That's exactly what I was looking for.

I guess I didn't realize that you could tie the subrep post with transform toolpath the way you did.

Mark,

I want to get away from manually editing programs as much as possible. (to many possibilities for mistakes)

I already have all the offsets saved offline (VMC pallet changer)so it's just a matter of loading the subplates, dump in the offsets and programs,

touch tools and rock & roll.
