so you want a post eh

quote:

Rule #1: Don't ask for a Post Processor.

Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive. The eMastercam.com Lynch Mob is on much higher alert than you could ever imagine.

Look to your reseller to supply you with the proper post for your machine, or quote for the work that needs to be done.

If you have something and are looking for improvements, it's a reasonable request. Maybe tell us why the post you have needs improvement.

Perhaps try to participate a bit on the Forum before you go asking for something. Not unlike Habitat for Humanity, we value Sweat Equity here. Quid pro quo, Clarice.

You may also want to let everyone know your company name so that your Hotmail or Yahoo email account doesn't give everyone the impression that you aren't a licensed Mastercam user.

BTW welcome to the forum wink.gif

Sorry,

My son just started working for a company with a Milltronic machine. No body in the company knows how to run it. My son has been running my Haases and fanuc controlled machines for years and is frustrated by this Milltronics control. All I was asking did Mastercam supply a post that worked with milltronic control.

Sorry again, I've been around long enough when it comes to posts nothings free.

But that is just the beginning, you will need to turn off the trig help function (as this will cause arc errors) and run a G18 arc on the machine to ensure it cutting in the right direction.

Be very careful with CRC too. Both standard (G41/G42) and Milltronics auto cutter comp (G46/G47 IIRC) can cause problems. Plot toolpaths using cutter comp *with the control* to verify they work correctly. If they even work at all that is.

You should also check to see that your config and control def is accurate for the milltronics machine. We have a craptronics lathe here with a centurion 7 control, and we had to give our control def a complete enema to make it work. For example, our control won't recognize files with .NC or .TXT after. They have to have no extension to work. Just 1 of many examples.

Cheers

Thanks Roger, I'll give that a try.

When I started working here, the guys were using the conversational programming that came with the lathe. I've had some experience on a Haas using conversational programming for mill and lathe. Consequently, after about 15 minutes of Milltronics conversational lathe programming, I was determined to get Mastercam lathe up and running. FWIW, of course.
