Pocket on a angle

Hello buckaroos and buckaret's,

 

I have a smooth contour being routed out from a block of wood. It is a no brainer doing it in the flat. What I need to do is rotate it up on a 30º angle and cut it. The problem I am running into is I can't seem to get X3 routerpro to not cut air for 20 min.

I am using surface rough parallel but I can't seem to get X3 to realize my stock is at an incline.

I am trying to get it to mill on the edge of a ball end. I would also like to be able to control the depth of cut without jumping through to many hoops.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What level of X3 are you using and can you use a stl file for a restmill pass?

If not a stl file...run a large cutter over the pocket that wont go into the it and use that as a restmill pass

Or trim your toolpath.

If I understand you correctly would it be down to the way you have your WCS set, under planes.

WCS = Top

Tool Plane = your 30deg angle

Comp/Contruction plane = Top

I really like the idea of trimming a tool path. I can't seem to get it to work quickly, although I will continue to explore that option. I did get a quick solution on pip's suggestion, though my Comp/Construction Plane is 30º.

Again because of your selfless advice I can start making chips.
