Machining GP03 fiberglass

Hey there. I am fairly new to machining of Fiberglass and Phenolics. I need some feed back on CNC Machining GP03 Fiberglass. Feed and speed recomendations and any other helpfull tips. Thanks in advance.

I guess those are fiberglass sheets. not sure what or how you are cutting but... You could use the tools form here for cutting out sheets and if you had to grind or mill shape you could get diamond tools here Both have feed rate and such on their sites

This is a 25pc order, it has some slots and holes. Not complex and would like to use standard carbide tooling. The Material is Gp03, red. It is a combination of resins and glass.

you can probably find some like this at our local tool shop or just use regular carbide tools use a high rpm and adjust your feed to what sounds good. I don't having any down and dirty feeds and speeds for that. do a few practice cuts.

its probably like G-10 glass reinforced material.roughing dry with a vacuum cleaner works well and doesnt add the powder and chips to your coolant.you can finish wet or dry and yes standard carbide works well. 250-500 fpm works well. use used tools to rough and better to new to finish,remembering that you probably wont cut anything else with them after you cut this stuff. its kind of hard on sharp edges.

onsrud has cutters for this, or like Nils said any hasp style you will not need to rough and finish. 17000 and 170 - 240 ipm with a 3/8 cutter coating will help you hardlube works well. a standard carbide cutter you will wear a groove in it.

I use Garr 3/8 solid carbide 45 deg helix tool. Part# 85420. We spin it at 9000rpm, 70imp and .100-.200 dp passes with a .005 full depth clean up pass. Keep dust down with a vaccum system. Have fun and wear a dust mask. What type of machine will you be using?
