Would someone mind converting this file into a file mastercam x2 can read?

Hi, I have made an airplane propeller in Wings 3D that I want to get into mastercam so I can toolpath and machine. The file formats that Wings exports in is very limited and the only one that x2 reads is .stl and when I do that, the prop is all geometry.

 

So I am asking if someone wouldn't mind converting the file using mabey solid works, into a file mastercam can read where the whole prop will be one surface. And if you want to do a smoothing operation that would be nice.

 

THe file formats that Wings3D can export in are .ndo .3ds .fbx .eps .lwo| .lxo .obj .pov .rwx .stl .wrl .x

I would really appreciate if someome wouldn't mind doing this. It shouldn't take more than a couple minutes. I am doing this as a fun project and I need this converted in order to proceed.

Hello Julian,

 

The download looks like a native wings3d file. If you upload a vrml(wrl) file, I may be able to open/convert it in SolidWorks for you.

 

By the way, the wings3d website says it can export vrml(wrl).

When you click on the link make sure you click on the prop.wrl and not the prop.wings.

Hello Julian,

 

I can't do anything with it in SolidWorks. There are just too many errors such as bad surfaces and gaps. I am thinking you would have better luck by just modeling it in Mastercam.

 

Maybe someone else may have an idea.

I have it as a X3 file,it will not save as an X2 file.

 

I can not post it on the FTP for some reason.

I brought the file into Rhino and then saved it as a Rhino .3dm file then brought it into Mastercam X3.

 

The funny thing is that in X3 yo have the option of saving as X3, X2 or X and it would only save as an X3 file.

 

You can download a trial version of Rhino and you get 25 saves.
