smoothing settings / fixed segment

This one may be for cnc, what exactly does fixed segment length mean. A segment will be no greater than my entered value? What kind of values will put me in the ballpark?

from what i understand it will be the length of the line segment "facet" so if you are roughing you could increase the line length to shorten up the moves the program makes

anybody back me up on that

 

what value will put you in the ballpark depends on what you are doing and what kind of finish you are shooting for

That's what I would think it would do, but say if you put .050" in there, it certainly makes segments smaller than that. The closest thing I can figure out is it makes segments no bigger that your value. Even if it's going in a dead-straight line.
