5 axis

I am using X4 and I have to machine a "compressor". The vanes are curved from inside to outside and from bottom to top. I have a .126 radius at the base of the vane. I cant use the swarf toolpath because it cuts the top of the vane due to the curve from bottom to top. I have gone thru one tutorial book and there are no examples in it like this. Can anyone tell me what I'm going to have to do to machine this part.

Might need an example, but if the vane walls aren't straight, then you will need to probably step down the walls with a ballnose using advanced 5ax.

Yes, along the same line as that only smallet and the fins a bit tighter together.

That was a great video. I'm a greenhorn to the 5 axis with X4. I have done 5 axis porting with Surfcam but that is the extent of it until now. So now I must learn. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest a 5X Flowline or Multisurf path with a Taper Ballnose similar to the tool in the video. Watch your surface normals if there are several surfs in the selection.

Just bear in mind if you need to regen the Restmill toolpaths ops 3 & 4 you will need to create an STL from ops 1 and 2 multiaxis roughing toolpaths

Thanks for all the help. I did get the part ran. Had to use a 3 mm ball mill. I do still have some issues with undercutting due to chatter in the corners. But thanks for the help.
