Hello,

i have to engrave this on a lathe.

I've tried C-Axis Contour with chain one segment and than toolpath transform-rotate.

But i always get a message warning.

I've tried also other settings in the T/C-Planes with no luck.

I have set my machine definition with the lathe mplmaster post.

When i try to set my T/C-Plane to other than top i also get a error message on posting.

The only way to program the part is to chain all the lines in 3d.

So, what's the best way to engrave this part without lots of retracts and machine the contour double times, because i have to take multiple steps ?

I made some baseball bats and engraved the kids names and team name as trophies a couple of years ago.

If memory serves, I used the mill contour tool path and rolled it around the cylinder. I then manually changed the A axis to C axis and the other changes necessary to machine this part on my lathe.

I had to do it this way because I didn't have lathe at the time.

Just want to show you how i've done the part.

I unrolled the contour and than chain, as best i can, without having double lines the first two segments.

Then take a C-Axis Contour toolpath and do a transform with copy several times.

Looks good for now.

Thanks,

chester
