Nesting and Matt Thickness

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Quick question - we often cut certain plywood parts either in 3mm, 6mm or 9mm ply. They are always nested together.

Now, if I set the material thickness after nesting will this work or will it post the code as to the thickness the individual parts are programmed to?

I have programmed them individually to 9mm (the thickest) to be safe. Which will be ok even on 3mm matt for most operations - it will just take a little longer as it feeds down to zero where there is no material. But for engraving the part number i want it to machine to a certain depth - so programmed to 9mm it wont go deep enough if the program is used for the thinner material.

Any help appreciated.

Nick

Hi Nick,

Notice how any question regarding nesting is completely ignored here. I don't think many guys are using it. We rely on it heavily though, so any discussion on it's performance and functions is welcomed. I'm not sure about your question. I think I would do exactly what you did and maybe just manage the engraver depth within the machine settings.
