X3 and my new computer

I am trying to run x3 on my windows seven 64 bit it runs good except for when I pre select geometry. When I do this it starts running real slow and most of the time it locks up. I have the windows xp virtual machine set up. thanks

Here are two things you can check. 1)I am running X4MU3 on Windows 7 64 bit with a normal install. I did not use xp virtual machine and I don't think it is needed. 2)When Kaspersky 2010 internet security first came out I had trouble with Mastercam running slow and locking up. Diabling Kaspersky didn't help, had to completely uninstall it. Other antivirus can interfere as well but I don't recall which ones.

I don't "believe" X3 is supported in Windows 7

 

That of course doesn't mean it won't run but the performance may not be as desired.

Most anti-virus software can be disabled for a set length of time or until a restart occurs which easily is better than completely removing it. I do this quite often with Symantic and Kaspersky AV apps.

bogusmill, I tried disabling Kaspersky but it still froze up. Then I put mastercam into Kaspersky exculsions. It still froze up and locked. The only way I could get Mastercam to run was to complely uninstall Kaspersky. This was back in Ocober of 2009. I re-installed Kaspersky with all its updates 2 weeks ago and Mastercam is now working OK. It still takes a few extra seconds to open but after that it has been working fine.

Loaded X3MU1 just out of curiosity. It seems to be running just fine, but I'm not makin any guarantees. Win7Pro64bit. Geforce 8600GT.

That could be the problem.

+1 to what Scott said regarding running mc in normal mode and not in xp virtual machine. Even though it's officially not supported there is no reason for it not to work well in a win 7 environment.
