Why are the cuts diagnol, instead of vertical or horizontal.

 

Also do you need to change something in X4 to respond the same way as X3?

The cuts always follow either the U or V direction of the original edge curves of the surface, before the surface is trimmed.

 

You have a surface that has the UV directions diagonal to the trimmed edge curves.

 

You would get the same behavior in any version of Mastercam with that same surface.

 

So how do you fix it?

 

You have a couple options. Sometimes you can use the edge curves of the surface and build a new surface with the proper UV directions.

 

Another option would be to use Surface Finish Blend or Surface Finish Contour, depending on the shape you are trying to cut...

Thanks for the info, i didn't know that. I haven't had that problem before.

 

Yes that is what i ended up doing cause I thought something else was wrong.

You'll be able to see it more clearly if you take your problem surface and un-trim it. That will show you the original orientation of the UV curves of that surface.
