I am new in multi surface machining.I am confuse for 3D finishing and roughing surface method in Mastercam software.

Please help me for learn what kind of surface method is good for roughing and finishing parts?

How can i select a surface strategy for parts?

it really depends on the geometry you're cutting.

 

Different paths machine different geometries better.

 

If you have a file to share, someone might be able to give you some ideas what may work better on your part,

I'd recommend working with the surface hst toolpaths instead of the older style surface paths. Easier to learn and get good results with.

malo: If you're starting w/ 3D surfacing HST toolpaths is a great starting point.

If you're using X4, you'll get used to the tree-style parameters with ease. The illustrators are cool, too. To some of us, it's taking a lil' longer to get adjusted, but you shouldn't have any problem. Just dive-in and try different toolpaths to get an idea of what they do.

Does HST only use for high speed and high feed rate machine or not?

No, you can use it with any machine just fine. The better the machine the better it works though.

 

As with most surface toolpaths you get a fair amount of code and small moves. What era machines do you have? I'd be curious as to Russian equipment. Unless your in Moscow, Idaho.

My maximum feed rate machine is 8m/min in X,Y,Z axis and max rapid motion is 18m/min and also maximum spindle speed is 8000 u/min.

What do you think for my milling machine?
