CONSTANT SCALLOP TOOL PATH

I am trying to run this type of tool path on some

steep surfaces MC wants to run from top of surfaces and bottom of surfaces back and forth.

(Lots of air time) is there any way to make it just run top to bottom and keep the tool on the material?

Cutting air with constent scallop? Perhaps you should either upload or email your file.

I dont use constant scallop on steep areas.I prefer a surface contour pass and then a shallow for flatter(0-35 deg) ereas. If your walls are 90 deg,a scollop pass is not a good option.

"on some steep surfaces", you do not have to use scallop only. You may use Project or combination of Parallel and Contour with check surfaces. Every type of surface cutting toolpaths has its limits. I would say "try a new toolpath" without seeing your .mc9 file.

just cutting the surfs that are #40 color.

contour toolpath went bonkers, tryed to cut both sides of the surfs???

loto is 65 mil tonight I might not care about tool paths tomorow!

I made one change - the 'Gap' setting from 300% to .6.

 

Looks OK to me now.

 

I put it back on the FTP site as the same name with BT added but in the MC8 directory.

John, I reviewed this file again and more options need to be looked at.

 

If you change the 'Edge settings' to 'only between surfaces' than the tool boundry isn't needed. But it still cuts way too deep in some areas. It may be necessary to create a surface at the bottom of the opening and use it as a check surf.

Hi guys someone was asking about my tube.

Well don't try to run MC on XP Home!

When I first fire MC up in the morning its crankey as all getout, won't let me save files and crashes every time I try. But then after I work with it, it starts to work better and by 10 am or so its working just fine. I think Glen at Cad-cam consulting is right XP home just does not have the memory management skills to handle real work. Just for games and Ebay, crap like that.

We will talk the boss out of the $200 for the upgrade to pro but for now just call me CRASH.

thanks for the work on the file, putting in a floor is a great idea I'll do that.

By the way if you take those #40 surfaces and rotate and copy them 5 times at 60 deg. you get a real cool looking wheel.
