5 axis vises?

Downside of Raptor is that the clamps are weak and crack. They sell replacements for $80/pair. It's a poor design IMHO. 5axisworkholding.com has an alternative but I have not tried them. For first operations in 5 axis, I don't think I would be happy with vises - they get in the way.

Whoa - how tight are you torquing them? They don't need to be very tight at all.

Dude, how tight are you tightening the parts? You don't need much torque at all to get sufficient holding power. You use the supplied T-Handle wrenches right?

Myself, I've NEVER cracked one.

And don't forget to hit the vice handle with a mallet for good measure

Then grab the 6 foot Cheater Bar

Damn gorillas. Get some touch man.

I had to put an indicator on a vise to show a clown how much he was distorting the vise. Wondered why he coul not get OP01 and OP02 to match up.

I don't usually operate anymore and I have never personally broken one (I pay the bills and therefore take a more gentle approach). One of my operators does use the "more is more" method, but only with the t-handle wrench. No mallets or long L-handles. It breaks at the bottom of the c'bore where the material is very thin. If it can break with the T-handle wrench operated by a small guy - it's too weak.

Maybe a different heat treat on the material, a different material or some well placed fillets. I've got a couple in my hand right now and I'm not seeing that they are weak.
