Lathe- Grooving. Help me?

I am new to lathe, ben using mill longer than i can remember. Does anyone know why i would get a spindle reversal during a groove cycle? I don't think it is the post as it is in the posted NCI file as well. The cycle seems to be roughing the groove then goes down one side fine but when finishing the other side the spindle stops and reverses then travels down the other side wall. Any suggestions are worth it! please give me time to check back i don't have much internet access where i work. Thank You!

Sounds like you selected from 2 different planes?

You mean it's trying to cut with the back of the insert?

Are you roughing and finishing within the same toolpath?

Anything funny with the shape of the groove?

It is done in one operation and is only one chain - i think i can rule out differant pplanes right?

 

Yes it seemd to be trying to cut with the bottom of the insert. And yes roughing and finishing with the same toolpath. The groove is a o-ring groove around the diameter. Radii at the top and bottom of the groove with straight walls.

Does it look right in backplot?

I have never had this but I would be looking at the tool set up. If you change the hand of a tool or reverse it it can cause a spindle direction change. Is the tool you are using a grooving tool that has neautral hand (no left or right)?
