Large chamfers

Well, not that large, just larger than the tool. We have a part that has some 1/2 X 45 deg. chamfers and we are using a 3/4 dia. chamfer tool to put them on. Any suggestions on what type of path to run. We have to step the cuts down obviously because the tool is too small to do it in one cut. Using v9sp1 level 3 w/ solids.

I've done this one myself. As long as it is a 45 degree chamfer this works. Use a 2D swept toolpath with whatever stepover you want. Define the tool correctly especially the flat at the tip. Take the cutter diameter - dead spot take this number and multiply it by .352. Take the product and punch it in as negative stock to leave. I don't know how the math works out on this but it does. I'm sure someone can explain it.

good luck
