X4 Drill Cycle - Copying points/depth values

Here is, no doubt, a simple problem but I can't seem to find a fix....

 

In X4 when I copy or create a new drill cycle, then copy points from a different cycle, and MC asks "retain depth values of merged drill points?"

 

At some point I've ended up with some drill cycles that have the Depth 'greyed out'; I can't select it, change it, and Overwrite depth doen't seem to give me an option to do anything.

 

I've sure if I spend enough time looking I could find an answer but I need to get machining so perhaps someone can throw me a quick solution here. I'm a 9.1 guy with 6 months of X2 (3 years ago) and a month of X4 here. Thanks.

When that prompt comes up, I always say "no". By retaining the depth values, you are basically locking those points to the operation you are copying from. Just say no, and the operation you are copying too will be fully independent from the other (and will allow you to edit depths).

Brian - As Colin said above the problem is that you chose to retain depth values when promted.

 

So Here's the Quick fix:

 

Drag an drop the drill points onto the offending operation again and choose replace then don't retain depth values.

 

That should fix the locked operation.

You've got that right...I have yet to find a reason to merge depths yet. Makes me wonder why bother with the nag.

This was a bug (cnc00027487)

 

This has been fixed for X5.

 

Orginally the warning was only suppose to come up if a depth had been edited in the "Change at point". So if you had edited a depth you had the option to bring in the points with the edited value.

 

Now the points will come in with the original depth values.
