we are experiencing problems again with sp2. os is win2000. when you open mill9.1 error message pops up "error opening c:mcam9millopsopmgr.prm". if we click through it we evenually get into mill9.1. also on the computer with winxp mcam9.1 lathe comes up with the message "error in update operation library slot and station #'s temporary file created: c:mcam9commontempt.mc9. seems like mastercam has created more problems with sp2 than i had before the update. Rick D. any answers?

Win2000 and WinXP? Check to see if the problems go away when logged on as an administrator. If they do, make sure that the students have Modify access to the mcam9 directory. By default ordinary user accounts do not have enough access to that directory for MasterCAM to run correctly.

If the problem is the same when logged on as an administrator, try renaming the mill9.cfg file (for mill) and the lathe9.cfg file (for lathe). MasterCAM will re-create these files using default values if they don't exist.

Are you using any desktop security software like Fortress or Deep Freeze? Some of them can interfere with MasterCAM.

Have you tried deleting the .CFG files yet? If so, try doing a repair with the SP2 CD-ROM. Put the CD in the CD-ROM drive and let it auto-start (or run setup.exe from the root directory if it dosn't auto-start) and select Install. When the MasterCAM install starts, it will offer you Modify, Repair, and Remove as options. Select Repair and let it do it's stuff.
