  1. When I have 'force tool change' enabled in a contour toolpath with depth cuts, I get a tool change at each depth pass. Mill default dosn't appear to do this. How can I fix it?
  2. On this machene the A is the one with the highest range. B can only go from -120 to 120.
  3. Anyone else having these issues should contact their dealer for a resolution.
  4. A VPN usually adds your machine as a seperate routed segment to the LAN. The end of the tunnel is behind the firewall, but it's not in the same broadcast domain as the rest of the LAN, so you aren't using up the limited VPN bandwidth with (generally) pointless traffic. Unfortunatly, the NetHASP license manager does all it's work via broadcast by default. To make this connection work, you need to edit your NETHASP.INI file to point to the license server. The section you are looking for looks like this: code: [NH_TCPIP] ; ; NetHASP does not support TCP/IP under DOS. ; ; ; Section-specific Keywords for the TCP/IP protocol. ; ;;NH_SERVER_ADDR = <Addr1>, <Addr2> ; IP addresses of all the NetHASP ; License Managers you want to search. ; Unlimited addresses are possible. ; ; Possible address format examples: ; IP address: 192.114.176.65 ; Local Hostname: ftp.aladdin.co.il remove the ;; in front to the NH_SERVER_ADDR = section and replace , with the name or IP address of the license server. i.e. code: [NH_TCPIP] ; ; NetHASP does not support TCP/IP under DOS. ; ; ; Section-specific Keywords for the TCP/IP protocol. ; NH_SERVER_ADDR = 10.20.10.20 ; IP addresses of all the NetHASP ; License Managers you want to search. ; Unlimited addresses are possible. ; ; Possible address format examples: ; IP address: 192.114.176.65 ; Local Hostname: ftp.aladdin.co.il e-mail me if you have questions. I've actually got two different NetHASP programs running this way (MasterCAM and Chief Architect).
  5. Vista is bad juju for anything that uses OpenGL, 'casue OpenGL support isn't there in Vista. Tom's Hardware ran the SPECviewperf tests on Vista and the results were ~80% slower than on the same hardware in XP. Link here: Tom's Hardware Vista is not supported for the current release of Solidoworks or Inventor, either. Autodesk dosn't have a timeline for compatability that I'm aware of, though I'd not expect anything to be done for any of the current releases. Solidworks is working on a Vista version, but I'm not sure when it will be out. My advice is don't even think about Vista for systems you are doing real work on until this summer at the earliest, and even then you really want to limit it to new hardware. Informal testing I've done on the retail version indicates that 1GB or RAM is the 'office apps' minimum, with 2GB a more practical starting point. That means that you'll proably want to think about the 64-bit version and 4GB of RAM if you are currently at 2GB or so and feeling a little cramped on more complex jobs.
  6. The necessary patches can also be downloaded from mastercam.com in the educational downloads section.
  7. Video drivers for notebooks is a problem that jsut keeps on giving. The real sucky part is that for NVIDIA cards it's only the .inf file that keeps you from using the latest driver. This site LaptopVideo2Go has 'corrected' .INF files that include notebook cards every released NVIDIA driver version, plus links to the driver installer. To use the .inf, all you do is download the driver pachakage you want to use and replace the driver package's .inf file with the corrected one from that site, then install normally. I used .infs from that site to get 84.26 running on my Latitude D800 with it's FX Go5650 and on my training labs's Asus notebooks with thier FX Go6600s.
  8. quote: How well does it do with revisions and model changes? Is it parametric like solidworks? Not parametric, so modeling is more like MasterCAM surfaces. Still, at $895.00 it's a heck of a good deal even if all you use it for is to convert IGES files into something useful.
  9. Mike: I don't know who your dealer is, but that's the guy you need to get involved in helping you solve your issues. Don't sell your importance in the larger scheme of things short. Single seats of MasterCAM for schools are inexpensive compared to industrial sets, but a school with a lab of MasterCAM pays about as much as a smallish industrial shop does. They they deserve the same level of support.
  10. Degmc: Let me known how it goes when you get a chance. I'm going to be in Sacramento from the 15th to the 18th, and in San Jose for training on the 19th. I can come by if needed. Jay: I installed X2 Demo just to be certain. It posts 20 lines per op @ 2 decimal points, just like expected.
  11. quote: I would like to know about this Demo copy the instructor gave you. Does it post out more then say 20 lines and past 2 deciamal? Jay: You can get the demo installer from the extranet. If for some reason you don't have access, e-mail me and I'll get it to you.
  12. quote: One of our students purchased the student software last quarter (through Paton). We were not able to open his programs on our lab computer, so he was not able to work intechangeably in the lab and at home.Ah, I remember that problem. X MR2 for your lab and the student should fix that right up, and X2 seems to be working correctly as well. E-mail me if you need disks.
  13. I said: quote: Were you having trouble doing this?Boy, that sounded bad. What I meant to type was something like: "Is that what you were talking about?" or something like that. I'd have changed it, but the 'edit' feature seems to have a timer on it.
  14. quote: Will, I spoke with Gig Harbor about being able to read and post process student's programs. They say it will be available with the release of X2 Mr1 within the first quarter. Is this your understanding?I just tried doing it with a student file and it seemed to work. i.e. I created a simple pocket path in a student X2 and opened it in an institution X2 and posted it. Were you having trouble doing this?
