Hi guys.. smile.gif i am learning mastercam and i wish i can know at much as any of u guys here. but am stumbling cuase there is no one guiding me right. 2 days ago i saw a program written using Gibbs or a software such as that. to be honest with you it was ammmazing. i've never seen feeds and speeds so fast as i saw it in that program and the programmer told me that the Gibbs has a function where the programmer only selects the type of mat, does the toolpath and then the program does all the calculation as to what is the proper feeds and speeds and depth of cuts. Maybe what am saying is something really normal but i donno as much as u people do.. so can someone plz let me know if mastercam has this function and how to use it if it does?

peace

sure Mastercam does this. its called the materials library. you select the type of material and the tool type your using. keep in mind that these settings are fulling customizable so your not locked in at the calculated sfm. you can program any feed and speed you like just remember the machine and tooling have to be capable of running at those given speeds and feeds

Welcome to the board! :cheers

Mastercam has some things that I would mention later ,but first of all my personal impact :

I prefer to set depth of cut ,sidestep ,speeds and feeds alone ( means myself )

I must consider many factors ,like :

Machine ,setup ,tooling ,tool recomendations ,

flute lenght ,material props ,smoothness of the finished surface and so on .

That`s a point .

A knowledge comes with experience and I am sure you can feed your machine same fast if not faster ,when you have a right approach .

I never used calculate from material ,I made

custom tool libraries and used them

IMHO have a look at high-feed function .

It`s exactly what you need to achieve this in Mastercam .

If you have high-speed machine Mastercam has good tools for that too

RTFM as the first step .

In mastercam help find :

job setup ,calculate from material ,tool library ,

high feed machining

Then we`ll talk.....

As a backnote :

republish your article in mastercam forum and you will get 10 times faster help .

All the instructors are there .

Here descussion group for instructor specific things

and it shows sometimes zero activity for weeks

Welcome Thomas .

It means your Hasp not functioning in a proper way ,if you have any .

Mastercam is plug protected ,you can not legally "download " Mastercam ,and this forum is Mastercam Reseller forum ,not alt.cadwares.* group .

If you are legal user ,you can solve your problem with your dealer fast and easy ,and come with this ? if you have a real problem
