SolidWorks 2d sketches into MC

Here is the challenge. We want to engrave a logo or picture onto a 3d surface. The logo is made up of lines, not closed contours. We have the model of the part in solidworks. The logo is projected onto a surface, but is not cut extruded into the part. When we import the model into MC ver 9, it does not show the 2d sketch. How can we import a 2d sketch into MC from Solidworks in order to apply tool paths for engraving?

have you tried Iges or Dwg out of SW? then merge in MC

In SolidWorks if you do a save as IGES in the options dialogue you can check a box that says "save sketch entities".

we use solidworks and do engraving like this just have it extruded into surface like .01 deep then it will come into mcam as a sldprt parasolid part

In SolidWorks, I don't know of a way to extrude lines or open contours. As far as I know, in order to extrude a cut, the contours in the sketch must be closed.

You can extrude or cut as a thin feature. But this is probably more work than exporting it out as an IGES.
