sufaces newbie question

Hi all,

We are experimenting with solid modeling. I successfully imported an iges part which is made totally out of surfaces. There are c'bores in this part which need to be drilled, but they are made out of surfaces. The cylinders representing the drill body and c'bored portion are surfaces, and the bottom of the c'bore, the "flat" step is a surface also. How can I program a drill op on these when I can't seem to be able to "select" them in any manner?

I realize I'm probably missing something simple here; any advice which will point me in the right direction is appreciated.

Thanks for your help with this.

Chris

I have never used surfaces to drill. I would create a curve one edge where the hole is. if the curve i made was a circle i would use the center point for my drill operation. if the curve did not make a circle i would set my c plane in 3-d and creat points along entity 5 points are enough. then i would creat a arc circle three points selecting three of the points you made. then use the center of the cilcle as your drill point. don't forget to set your c-plane to top or where ever you are doing your operation from
